Basically just... showing some proof that I'm still alive, lol.

I've been using DA less lately 'cause I don't really have the time to keep up with several different places. But I'll try to get some older stuff up and also post new stuff. I just spent a week and a half in the countryside, so I'm pretty exhausted now that I'm finally home again. Just gonna take it easy for now, been running around from one place to another. x__x Once I get my energy back, I'll have to do some sewing and painting for my dolls... I just realised that I haven't introduced Yosh here at all, ahah... but he still doesn't even have clothes, so I haven't photographed him much. And he still needs a proper wig and tattoos.

But yeah, seems like yenna-photo tagged me to do a meme so here goes:

10Q BJD MEME

1. How long have you been in the hobby?
Hmm... If counting from when I decided to get a BJD of my own and started googling like a mad person for all possible information of them, then I started in February 2005. So it's been over 10 years. I ordered my first BJD in May 2005 and received him on the 12th of July 2005. So, in a couple of weeks Jae's gonna celebrate his 10th birthday. I only have his head left now, but that's the most important part of him.

2. How many dolls do you have at home?
Idk I haven't really counted them lately... and I always forget to include the critters. Let's see... I have 11 human dolls with bodies and then... seven who don't have their own bodies yet or are doomed to forever borrow others' bodies. No, actually that's eight. And then I have three strange little critters. Yeah. I think that's it.


3. What are their names and sculpts?
I suppose I'll remember them better when I list them, you can count them here and see if I made a mistake before, lol.

4. Which doll have you had the longest? How long has it been?
Jae's first shell... or, well, only the head that is left of the original doll, ahah. Will be 10 years soon, like I already mentioned in my answer to the first question.

5. Which doll is your favorite?
Hmm... depends on the day and my mood and general feeling I guess. Sometimes I like girl dolls more, some days I'm all about the boys... I go around saying "X is my princess/queen/prince/you-name-it". Right now I don't have a clear favourite since I haven't been doing much with my BJDs in the first place.

6. Are you waiting on any dolls now? If yes, which one(s)?
Well, the latest ones, Big Dipper and Heavy Rain just arrived from DZ a couple weeks back. So I'm not waiting on any BJDs right now.

7. What is your grail doll?
My lovely Misha (Mihail, SA Husky). I pined after him for six years 'cause at first I wasn't able to afford him and then his sculpt got discontinued for years. But eventually I got him and I'm extremely happy with him. Dude has the most expensive wardrobe out of my dolls, sheesh. =A=;;

8. Did you learn to do something new because of this hobby? (e.g. photography, painting, sewing)
I'd been doing photography and sewing even before the hobby, but I started doing them more regularly after I got dolls, obviously... well, somehow I've learned to paint face ups even though it took a long time and I'm still nowhere near to where I want to be. But at least I no longer feel like I need to hide the dolls that have been painted by me, lol. I've more or less lost my drawing hobby due to this doll stuff, I just don't have the time and energy to keep practising that skill anymore...

9. Have you made any friends you might otherwise not have because of this hobby?
Yeah, some of them are still active in the hobby, a few are in & out and some seem to have quit the hobby altogether. When I make friends, I make them for keeps so I'm always sad if I lose touch with someone (I get very attached to people who I like) but sometimes life takes you to different directions and there's nothing you can do about it, I guess. But yeah, I've met some really cool people thanks to this hobby and I'm grateful for that.

10. What are your doll plans for this coming year?
Uhh... well, I'm still waiting on Bimong to re-release Narins because I want a new Kei. And I also want to get Oasisdoll Natalie head and then I need to figure out where the hell to get a 64cm+ flat-chested body for her, ahahaa... and then, as always, I'm keeping my eyes open for a possible sculpt for my ice queen Ivanna, but we'll see if any company will ever make a woman that looks strong and bitchy enough. I am beginning to doubt this. -__- But mostly I have plans for my other non-BJD dolls, really. BJD recession here, kinda, lol.


I've lost count of how many times I've done this meme before... I feel like I never have anything interesting to say. :'D

Haha, this is quite late compared to previous years and I wondered if I should even make it anymore, but... since it's become a sort of a tradition, I thought that... well, what the hell. Let's do this, lol. xD

2014 was fun because I got to experiment on figure photography, too. :3 Although I still have only figmas, but I'll get a couple of fancy figures this spring. Super excited!! ♥ Because figures have a fixed pose, it will be interesting to explore different angles in order to create more variety in the photos~ :3 I'm sure it will be quite different from photographing dolls (and figmas) that are poseable. 


But yeah, here are the previous years that I could find at a quick glance:
2013

I'm currently at my parents' place so I have limited internet access and I also don't have a way of editing photos. I have a couple of dolls with me and, of course, my camera so I'll be posting the photos that I've taken once I return home after New Years. :3 We've gotten lots of snow here, finally! Now it really feels like Christmas. ^^ ♥


But, the point of this journal entry is to give some thanks.

I will be doing a summary journal of my photography in 2014 as usual, but because I still have some photos that I've taken and haven't been able to publish yet, it will have to wait until I'm home again. For now I'll still be quiet for a while. My brother spoiled one of my Christmas presents, so I know that I'll be getting a proper tripod for my camera, yay! Here's to hoping I'll be able to capture some of the New Year fireworks, too. Until now it's been a bit of a hit-and-miss 'cause darkness + free hand photography when you have shaky hands isn't a very good combination, haha!
